Walk down almost any busy street in Bangkok, and you will see the promise: a suit in 24 hours. It is tempting, especially when your flight is close, and your wardrobe is not ready. The question is not whether it can be done. It is what you give up to get it, and whether that trade suits you.
We have made suits in Bangkok since 1951, and we are a third-generation tailoring house. This guide gives you our honest view, so you can decide with confidence before you buy.

Key takeaways
- It is possible, but speed usually means fewer fittings and less time to correct the fit.
- It can be worth it for one event, or when you are leaving tomorrow and accept a short-term garment.
- It is rarely the best choice for a suit you will wear often.
- A few extra days make a real difference. Ours usually take about 2 to 3 days when the cloth is available and the fittings are arranged properly.
- Ask what is included before you pay, not only how fast it is.
What is a 24-hour suit?
A 24-hour suit is a suit that a shop promises to deliver within a day of your first visit. In practice, that usually means one measuring session, a very short window for a fitting, and a finished garment the next day.
The label covers a wide range. Some shops make a simple, well-judged suit quickly from cloth they already hold. Others compress the work so much that the fit and the finish suffer. The word "24-hour" alone does not tell you which one you are buying.
That is why the useful question is not "how fast?" but "what does that speed include?"
How can a suit be made in 24 hours?
A suit normally moves through measuring, pattern making, cutting, assembly, fitting, finishing and pressing. To fit that into a day, a shop has to compress some of those steps. The usual ways are:
Cloth Already in Stock
Working from cloth already in stock, so nothing has to be ordered.
Keeping It Simple
Keeping the design simple, with few details and no complicated matching.
Working Through the Night
Running the workshop through the night.
Less Time for Corrections
Shortening or removing the fitting, the step that lets the tailor see the suit on your body before it is finished.
The last point matters most. The fitting is where shoulders, balance and length are corrected. When it is removed or rushed, the suit is finished on the strength of your measurements alone, and there is no second chance to refine it.
What do you get with a 24-hour suit?
A fast suit is not automatically a bad suit. It has real advantages in the right situation:
Speed
You have a suit when you need it, without planning a long stay.
Convenience
One visit and one pickup suits a packed itinerary.
A Made-to-Measure Start
Even a quick suit begins with your measurements, which is closer to your size than a standard size off the rack.
A Sensible Price for a Single Use
If you need the suit once, a simpler garment can be all you need.
If you are attending one event, leaving soon and happy to treat the suit as a short-term garment, these benefits are real.
What do you give up with a 24-hour suit?
Speed always costs something. These are the trade-offs to understand before you buy.
Time to correct the fit
The fitting is where a tailor sees how the suit sits on you: the shoulder line, the collar, the balance of the jacket and the length of the sleeves and trousers. With one rushed fitting, or none, small problems can be accepted simply because there is no time to fix them.
Construction
Quicker suits are often built with fused interlining, which is bonded to the cloth with adhesive and is faster and less costly than sewn canvas. A fused jacket can look fine on the first day, but it may not drape or age in the same way. Our guide to luxury suits vs regular suits explains the difference.
Choice of cloth and details
When the clock is short, the choice is usually limited to the cloth already on the shelf, with fewer details to select. If you want a particular cloth or finish, ask whether it is available before you commit. You can look through our fabrics before you visit.
Support after you fly home
A problem that appears after you leave is harder to solve from another country. Ask what happens if the suit needs adjusting, and who pays for shipping and correction.

When is a 24-hour suit worth it, and when is it not?
The right answer depends on what the suit is for.
| Situation | Worth it? |
|---|---|
| One event this week, and you leave tomorrow | Often yes |
| A replacement for lost or delayed luggage | Yes |
| A business suit you will wear often | Usually no |
| A wedding or an occasion you cannot repeat | Usually no |
| Your first bespoke suit | Usually no |
| Only one or two days in Bangkok | It depends |
A simple question to ask yourself
If you are unsure, ask yourself one question: will I wear this suit again and again? If the answer is yes, a little extra time is usually the better investment.
How does a proper fitting change the result?
Most of what makes a suit look right happens at the fitting, not at the sewing machine. When we try a jacket on you, we look at four things:
How the Jacket Hangs
The jacket should hang evenly, without pulling forward or back.
Length and Shape
The length of the jacket, the sleeves, and the trousers should suit your height and build.
Freedom of Movement
You should be able to sit, reach and walk without strain.
The Final Adjustments
The small adjustments, often just a few millimetres, that turn a good fit into a very good one.

A suit with these corrections feels different from one without them. You stop thinking about it, which is exactly the point. If you want to know what we measure, our guide on how to measure for a suit explains it, and bespoke vs off-the-rack shows why the process matters.
A better plan for a short trip
If you have a few days in Bangkok, you do not have to choose between speed and a proper fit. At Country Road Fashions, a suit is usually ready in about 2 to 3 days when the cloth is available and the fitting schedule can be arranged properly. A typical order runs like this:
- Day 1: consultation, cloth and measurements. We talk through how you will wear the suit, you choose the cloth, and we take your measurements.
- Day 2: fitting. You try the jacket and trousers, and we adjust the shoulders, balance and length.
- Day 2 or 3: final check and collection. We confirm the fit and press the suit before you collect it.
To make it work, book your first appointment early in your visit, keep your fitting days free and bring the shirt and shoes you plan to wear. You can also see how our bespoke process works before you arrive.
If your stay is shorter still, ask us about finishing the suit and shipping it to you.
What should you ask before you buy a fast suit?
Whether you buy from us or anyone else, ask these seven questions and get the answers in writing.
- How many fittings are included? And when will they happen?
- What exactly is the cloth? Fibre, mill or supplier, and weight.
- How is the jacket built? Fused, half-canvas or full canvas.
- What is included in the price? Jacket, trousers, alterations, lining and buttons.
- What if the fit is not right? Who adjusts it, when and at what cost?
- Can you ship it, or fix it after I leave?
- When exactly will it be ready, and what happens if it is not?
A clear, confident answer to each one tells you more about the suit than the promise on the sign.
Which warning signs should you watch for?
Fast tailoring is not the problem. Unclear tailoring is. Be careful if you notice any of these:
- Pressure to decide on the spot, or being steered to a shop by a driver or a promoter.
- A full bespoke suit promised overnight at a bespoke price.
- No fitting at all, or a promise of a perfect fit without one.
- Vague answers about the cloth, the lining or the construction.
- A price that changes once the work has started.
- No written quote and no clear policy for alterations.

Frequently asked questions
Are 24-hour suits in Bangkok worth it?
Sometimes. They suit a single event or a very tight schedule. They are usually not the best choice for a suit you will wear often, because speed leaves less time for fittings and corrections.
Can a good suit be made in 24 hours?
A simple, well-judged suit can be made quickly from cloth already in the shop. The risk is that there is little time to correct the fit, so ask how many fittings are included before you pay.
Are 24-hour suits usually fused?
Often, because fused construction is quicker than sewn canvas, but it varies by shop. Ask how the jacket is built and get the answer in writing.
How many fittings does a 24-hour suit include?
Usually one short fitting or none, but it depends on the shop. Ask for the number and the timing in writing, so you know whether there is room to adjust the fit.
How long does a proper bespoke suit take in Bangkok?
At Country Road Fashions, about 2 to 3 days when the cloth is available and the fittings can be arranged properly. Premium cloth, extra fittings, several garments or busy periods can take longer.
Is a 24-hour suit cheaper?
Not always. The price depends on the cloth, the construction and what is included, not only the speed. Compare what each quote covers, not only the number.
What if I only have one or two days in Bangkok?
Consider a shirt, which is often quicker to make than a suit, or ask whether the suit can be finished and shipped to you.
Can I get alterations after I leave Bangkok?
Ask about this before you order, wherever you buy.
